What's Your Story Morning Glory?

What’s your story morning glory?
What’s “your” word hummingbird?
Did you hear about Hugo and Kim?
For those who actually know and remember Bye Bye Birdie, I am inspired to write these words to you…
Being born in 1972, it was not my generation, however the song recently caught me and made me smile and hum this song for days… Now I have to find the movie, sadly it’s not on Netflix…
"Hey, how's it going?" your friend asks.
"Same old, same old," you reply. And sigh. Loudly.
The words feel heavy, like a 100% wool blanket being thrown over your body and face. No air. No light. Claustrophobic. You want to punch your way out.
"I love you. You light up my world. I want to spend the rest of my life with you," coo's your partner.
You feel the words light you up from the inside. Every cell in your body is on fire. You close your eyes and let the words heal your soul. Passion. Love. True commitment.
"I'm in! I'm game! Let's take this to the top!" your best friend tells you.
You know she means it and in that moment, a new future is born.
The words we speak everyday, to others, to ourselves…they can be powerful, or not. They can inspire, or not. They can build someone up and make their day, or not. They can change your life, or not.
The most important words are the words we say. The words we think are important however they don’t inspire, change or create friends. The words we say and write do.
Words make our World. The only difference is the letter L.
What do you choose to add with the letter L.
I choose love, laughter, and life.
Live, Love, Laugh. The three "big" L's.
When we talk, chat, twitter, gossip, post, commit, vow, do our words send the message we want to send?
Words to live by.
Words to love with.
Words to laugh with.
Words to make you feel happy.
Words to make others happy.
Start noticing your words today.
Are your words saying what you want to say? Do your words move you towards the life you want to live?
Awareness is where it all begins. The stories we tell everyday shift the quality, happiness and success in our life.
Do you share happy stories or do you gossip?
Do you take the time to compliment at least 3-5 people everyday, or do you let those moments just pass you by?
At my breakfast table with my kids I start the conversation.
Every morning, at 6AM on school days, I ask my kids, "What are you excited about today?" They always pause and give me "the look"(read: they are teenagers and most things I say evokes the look..) but then they eventually share their thoughts- a game in gym, a school special, a riding lesson after school….something eventually excites them.
Simple conversation and we are drawn closer, we laugh, we love, we share simple words.
Are you fully present and aware of the words being spoken by you?
Are you fully aware of your words, do they inspire and light people up, are they authentic and are they the you you want to be?
Do you add value or knowledge or inspire the people around you?
Is the conversation solving an issue, giving hope, giving a laugh? Are we contributing?
Become aware of the power of your words. Let your words light up your world.
Your friends are drawn closer by the love you share in your words.
Your business partners are inspired by your words you share of your belief in them.
Your life partner is in love and feels connected by the intimate conversations you share.
Are you true to your word? Are your words true to you?
Respect comes from being a person of our word.
Happiness comes from being a person of wonderful words.
We live in a fast-paced, high tech world. We are bombarded by words and we put out lots of words every day.
Some are put out at warp speed. Hash-tag this. Post that. Tweet this. Comment on this and that and that….a constant flow of our words- essentially who we are, being cast out into the world. Are we being true to ourselves? Our integrity flows from our relationship to words- are we who we say we are?? Hash-tag on that one for a moment. #deepthoughts
Think before you ink.
I'm learning less is often more when we choose our words carefully. I love to talk. I love sharing. I love communication. I love poetry, stories and deep conversations. What I have discovered is the power of our words and how it becomes the story we tell, about ourselves.
We have heard the saying
“We are what we eat.”
“We become what we speak.”
So my question, dear readers, is…what's your story morning glory?
What’s your word hummingbird?
Make your words your world. Have an L of a time!
Now Enjoy this and see how fast the word can spread.
